Why does the phone sometimes put you on the next street?
Tunnel exits, tall buildings and location signals: a closer look at small jumps on the map.
The map dot is a measurement
A phone location is a measurement, not a perfect point. Buildings can block or reflect satellite signals. Accuracy can deteriorate indoors or where only a small part of the sky is visible, moving the apparent position onto a nearby street.
Nearby is not always on your road
A camera on a parallel street may be physically close. ALMET considers travel direction as well as distance when assessing an alert, to reduce announcements for points behind you or facing another direction.
When location accuracy deteriorates, no app can distinguish every junction perfectly. A delayed or missing alert does not establish that there is no enforcement ahead.
Check before you drive
Review ALMET’s location permission in phone settings. Check the app’s location and driving status before moving. If a problem occurs, stop somewhere safe before investigating.
Do not try to correct a drifting map marker while driving. Look at the road first.
