A speed camera and an average-speed zone: what changes?
One measures at a point. The other considers the journey between two points. Here is how to read the two alerts.
A point versus a stretch of road
An instantaneous speed check evaluates speed at the measurement point. Average-speed enforcement uses the distance and elapsed time between an entry and an exit. Slowing down beside one camera does not describe the whole journey.
EDS is the Turkish abbreviation for Electronic Enforcement System. The term covers more than one type of enforcement; this article concerns average-speed zones.
What appears in ALMET?
A fixed-camera alert highlights distance and the recorded limit. A zone also shows your calculated average and the remaining distance. If a separate camera lies within the zone, ALMET can display both.
Treat the alert as a reminder. Road signs, temporary restrictions and current driving conditions guide your decisions.
Before setting off
Check the volume and Bluetooth connection while parked. Choose a level you can hear so you do not need to watch the display while driving.
